About the AshokaX Horizons Application

AshokaX Horizons

Horizons is AshokaX’ dedicated offering for high-school students giving learners an unmatched live learning experience with some of Ashoka’s top faculty across disciplines. Each course offers 10 hours of live interaction with faculty, access to wide and critical reading resources and individual engagement and learning support. With a bouquet of courses across disciplines, Horizons is an exhilarating intellectual experience for curious young learners from across backgrounds.

Course Format: Approximately 20 hours of total interaction & work
Faculty contact time: 10 hours
Additional Learning Support with TA: 5 hours
Self-learning (readings & preparation): 5 hours

Learners at AshokaX Horizons

AshokaX Horizons is meant for high-school students curious to learn and explore different interests even before getting to college. Each course will give students exposure and an appreciation of a particular discipline that they may be considering for their college careers. Courses are designed to be accessible and engaging for a wide variety of learning audiences, regardless of prior background in the discipline. There are no official pre-requisites to applying for the AshokaX Horizons, though learners will be well advised to go through course descriptions on the AshokaX website to identify the courses most suited to them. The application process is meant to assess learner suitability and seriousness to a course and not as an elimination mechanism. We encourage all learners, irrespective of background and experience, to apply.

Application Process & Fees

All applicants to AshokaX Horizons must fill the single-page application form which helps identify basic personal information and motivation to take the courses. On the basis of the information provided, students will be selected on their suitability for particular courses on a first-come, first-served basis.

Course Fees: INR 12,000 per course (exclusive of 18% GST)

Selection & Payment: All selected students will receive an email with their offer letter and payment link. There is no application fee.


FAQs

You can check the status of your application by logging in to this portal. Your email-ID will serve as your username and your password has been sent to you via email.

The classes will be held on Zoom, an online meeting platform. All learners will need to install the latest version of Zoom on their computers and ensure that they have a stable internet connection for the duration of the course.

All learners that attend at least 80% (16 hours of the 20 hours) of the classroom sessions will be awarded a certificate of completion from Ashoka University. In case a learner fails to attend 80% of the lecture sessions, they will not be given a certificate. This is essential for us to maintain classroom rigour and the quality of peer learning.

TAs (Teaching Assistants) are experienced, trained students in the discipline who will assist the faculty member to deliver the course. They will be the Point Of Contact (PoCs) (for both learners and faculty) for any logistical query or issue during the course. They also facilitate discussion sessions and tutorials. Discussion sessions and tutorials are usually held in smaller groups to resolve any doubts that learners may have, discuss readings, and to introduce new concepts. These serve as complimentary sessions to the lectures and add depth to learner understanding.

Scholarships to AshokaX will be determined purely on the basis of need. If you have applied for scholarship, our Admissions Team will contact you to request further documentation.
