About The Course

Equip students with a systematic view of behavioral science so they are informed consumers & practitioners: key concepts, applications & turning ideas into action. Students will be able to do this by learning effective strategies around optimal decision making from a stream of behavioral economics, psychology, marketing and organizational behavior with a focus on practical applications and local context.

    Neela Saldanha

    PHD Wharton; MBA IIM C

    Neela Saldanha is the Founding Director of the Centre for Social and Behaviour Change, housed at Ashoka University and funded by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. An independent consultant, Neela applies marketing & behavioral science to problems of global health, financial inclusion and charitable giving in the Global South. She is a Senior Advisor at the Busara Center for Behavioral Economics, a consultant with Surgo Foundation and an advisor at Dvara Money and Noora Health.

    With over 15 years in the private sector she has led teams in brand management, consumer insights, behavioral science and strategy consulting at Nestle, Unilever, Accenture and PepsiCo, across India and in global roles.
    She is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata and The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where she completed her doctoral studies.

    Madhavi Menon

    Madhavi Menon is an eminent theorist and scholar of gender, sexuality, politics, and identity. 

    She joined Ashoka University in 2013 as one of its founding faculty members. She went on to establish the university’s Centre for Gender & Sexuality Studies (CSGS), which is the first of its kind in India. Previously, she was a professor at Ithaca College and American University

    Most prominently known for her work on queer theory and Shakespeare, she has also edited the collection Shakesqueer and written three books on Shakespeare and sexuality. She is also most recently the author of Infinite Varieties: A History of Desire in India and Law of Desire: Rulings on Sex & Sexuality in India. 

    In addition to being Director of CSGS, she is the Director of the Ph.D. programme in English and Professor of English at Ashoka University.
